‘Sinatra At The Sands’ To Receive 60th Anniversary Vinylphyle Release

Sinatra at the Sands, the legendary first-ever live album from Frank Sinatra, will be released as a special Vinyphyle Edition to celebrate the LP’s 60th anniversary.

The album features new mixes by longtime Sinatra engineer Larry Walsh and high-end mastering by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound. The original gatefold packaging has been enhanced with an insert that includes additional photos from the Sands residency and new liner notes by Sinatra expert Charlie Pignone.

Vinylphyle is a premium vinyl series from UMe, exclusively available from uDiscover Music and official artist stores. Each 180g black vinyl pressing is crafted at RTI for unmatched fidelity and depth. Additionally, each release features a four-panel insert with liner notes, photos, and artwork drawn from the original packaging.

Long celebrated as one of the best live albums ever recorded, Sinatra at the Sands includes renditions of “Angel Eyes” and “Fly Me To the Moon.” Come for the brilliant renditions of Sinatra classics, stay for the unique stage patter from Ol’ Blue Eyes himself. The performance is taken to new levels thanks to Sinatra’s backing band: Count Basie and His Orchestra. The group was conducted by a young Quincy Jones.

Sinatra at the Sands was originally released in July 1966 as a double album on the legendary singer’s own Reprise label. Sinatra at the Sands was stitched together from a week’s worth of shows recorded during a seven-night stint in Vegas, which lasted from January 26 to February 1, 1966.

The record confirmed Sinatra as perhaps the greatest living musical performer. As Quincy Jones recalled in his book, Q: The Autobiography Of Quincy Jones, “Frank was at the height of his powers then, and I was steering his musical ship, the greatest band in the world.”

In other news related to the world of The Chairman, Sinatra The Musical, the stage show celebrating the life of the legendary Frank Sinatra, officially began performances in London’s West End in June.

Following the life of Sinatra from his first days singing in New York to becoming a global superstar, the musical stars Joel Harper-Jackson. Tickets are on sale now for performances through April 2027.
