‘Into Gold’ features a soft pulsing beat with frontwoman Hannah Reid singing: “Make ashes from stone / All of these things that I’ve seen turn darkness into gold / And when I was made from the right kind of wrong / All of these things that I’ve seen turned darkness into gold,” describing overcoming a tough situation.

Speaking about the track in a press release, Reid shared: “‘Into Gold’ is about mourning loss and overcoming heartbreak. It’s interesting, as I think it’s a bit more like old London Grammar. As much as I love our old music, I’ve definitely moved into a different phase where I notice how different my voice sounds on the older material; it’s a lot more sad.”

She continued: “I think in our newer material I might be touching on things that are sad but telling the story in more of a celebratory way. With Into Gold it’s been carved up and dressed up so beautifully by Dan and Dot.”

‘Into Gold’ marks the third single to be released from the band’s forthcoming LP ‘The Greatest Love’ which is set for release on September 13 (pre-order/pre-save here). It follows the previously released songs ‘House‘ and ‘Kind Of Man’.

The new release will mark the fourth studio album to be shared by the British trio, and the follow-up to the critically acclaimed ‘Californian Soil’, which arrived back in 2021 and earned the band their second BRIT nomination.

The album comes over a decade since the group – comprising Reid, Dot Major and Dan Rothman – first entered the industry, and “will see them celebrate a new chapter as they leave their past behind them and hone in on a newfound sense of freedom” according to a press release.

London Grammar are set to headline the Park stage at this year’s edition of Glastonbury this Sunday (June 30) and have also announced a handful of European tour dates that will kick off later this year. Check out the full list of dates below and visit here to purchase tickets.

Speaking to NME last April, Major teased that London Grammar were “definitely getting there” with their next project. “We’re all really excited, because it’s been a little while – as it always is with us,” he explained.

This coincided with comments shared by Rothman in July 2022, when he told NME that the band had “been working on” their fourth album throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Similarly, London Grammar previously said in an interview with NME that their next LP could be their “best one yet”. At the time, Reid said it would contain “a lot of deep, philosophical questions about life, relationships and love”.
