Wyatt McCubbin Announces Debut Album ‘650’ for October 16 Release

Wyatt McCubbin has announced his debut album 650, due October 16 via Dave Cobb’s Lucille Records/MCA. The 10-song set is accompanied by the new single “All Outta You,” which McCubbin co-wrote with Shane Minor. McCubbin described the song as suited to “a lonely motel room or a midnight drive” and said its “dark, grungy edge” reflects his taste for sad country music.

McCubbin and Cobb recorded 650 live to tape at Thunderbolt Studios in Savannah, Georgia. McCubbin said the project draws on nearly 2,000 songs he has written, calling it “sixteen years in the making.” Its title and framing connect his childhood in a four-way-stop Ohio town with his life in Nashville, with radio serving as a recurring thread. (He listened to a local station that later employed him after high school and picked up WSM’s Nashville signal in his grandfather’s garage.)

Family also runs through the record. McCubbin’s wife, Holly McCubbin, sings harmony vocals throughout 650 and chose “Fly, Baby, Fly,” which he wrote for their daughter, Dove, for the track list. “Boy in a Boat” was written for their son, Autry. McCubbin said the album would not be the same without Holly’s “fingerprint” and that having his entire family represented “means the world to me.”

Last month, McCubbin released “Andy Griffith,” with All Country News calling it one of the year’s best country songs, Billboard citing its “vivid imagery,” and MusicRow giving it a DISCovery Award. MusicRow also placed McCubbin on its Top 100 Songwriters list in 2024 and 2025, years in which his songs have been recorded by Luke Combs, Zach Top, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson. He is currently a co-writer on three songs climbing country radio charts: Riley Green’s “Think As You Drunk,” Cody Johnson’s “Horseback,” and Jon Pardi’s “Boots Off.” Next month, McCubbin will continue supporting Zach Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music Tour in cities including Bend, San Diego, Anaheim, and San Antonio, before joining Luke Combs for 12 dates on the My Kinda Saturday Night tour next year.
