Kenny Whitmire has released his new single “Movin’ On’s Movin’ In,” a collaboration with Vince Gill. Out today, the track pairs the MCA country singer with the Country Music Hall of Famer, Grand Ole Opry member and 22-time Grammy Award winner. Whitmire co-wrote the song with Carson Peters and Dan Alley, and recorded it at Gill’s home studio in Nashville. The honky-tonk track centers on leaving heartbreak behind and making room for a new chapter.
Whitmire said Gill has been a major influence on his music since long before the two worked together. “I have listened to country music my whole life, and Vince Gill has played a massive role in the influence of my sound and songs,” he said. “I wouldn’t be who I am today as an artist if it wasn’t for him.” The collaboration gave Whitmire the chance to record alongside an artist whose interviews and stories had helped shape his own ambitions.
“I used to listen to Vince tell stories in interviews of hanging out and working with folks like Merle Haggard and George Jones and dream of getting to do something like that with one of my heroes,” Whitmire said. “Never thought the day would come, but I thank the good Lord that it did.” The release arrives ahead of Whitmire’s Grand Ole Opry debut on August 18, when he is scheduled to perform as part of the Opry 100 lineup in Nashville, Tennessee.
Earlier in 2026, Whitmire signed with MCA and released his debut EP, Fool In A King Size Bed, on June 12. Before the EP arrived, he released “Me Being Me,” “I Gave Her The Moon,” “You’re Getting Colder,” “Thought Twice About Loving You” and “One Foot In The Grave” between the start of 2026 and May. The seven-track project also includes its title track and “Ain’t Hard Livin’.” Whitmire has headlining dates on his Ain’t Hard Livin’ Tour scheduled for the fall, alongside 2026 support dates with Billy Currington and Tracy Lawrence.
