Miranda Lambert Releases ‘Sunset Marquis’ From ‘Crisco’

Miranda Lambert has released “Sunset Marquis,” the latest preview of her forthcoming album Crisco, due October 2 via MCA. The song is the fourth track released ahead of the 12-song album.

“Sunset Marquis” takes its name from the West Hollywood hotel where Lambert says she has stayed for close to 20 years. Lambert wrote the song with Jesse Frasure, David Garcia, Waylon Payne and Ashley Monroe, and she and Frasure co-produced it. She described the property as a place where unexpected encounters can turn into lasting memories, and said its atmosphere feels like stepping into another era. “Every time I’m there, you never know who you’re going to run into or what kind of memories you’re going to make,” she said. Built around a breezy, ’70s-influenced groove, the song uses the hotel as the setting for late nights and loud music.

An official visualizer was released alongside the single. The clip features Lambert in a Cat O’Nine bodysuit with a vintage red convertible under neon lighting, drawing directly on the West Hollywood setting behind the song. “Sunset Marquis” will also appear in the forthcoming documentary If These Walls Could Rock, which is scheduled to begin streaming on digital platforms August 14.

Crisco is produced by Lambert and Frasure. “I’ve always loved every corner of country music,” Lambert said when the album was announced. “The heartbreak songs, the honky-tonk songs, the songs that make you think and the songs that make you dance. Making this record reminded me that those things don’t have to be separated. We followed the songs wherever they wanted to go, trusted our instincts and ended up with something that feels really fun and really honest to who I am.” The album was written with a group of collaborators that includes Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Waylon Payne, Aaron Raitiere, and Josh Osborne.
