Jessie Ware can turn the heat up just about anywhere. She proves as much in her new video for “Sauna,” directed by Jordan Rossi and featuring a parade of noteworthy cameos.
“Sauna,” a highlight from Ware’s recent album Superbloom, finds the pop diva delivering pointed instructions on the chorus: “If you wanna last longer/ I don’t need faster, I need stronger/ Take it to the sauna.” Ware released the song as a single this summer following a groundswell of demand from her fan base. A string of remixes are on the way, beginning with Horse Meat Disco’s recent take on the track.
In Rossi’s new “Sauna” visuals, things get sweaty in an elevator. The clip contains a procession of cultural figures including Munroe Bergdorf, Henrik Morten Lischke, Tsatsamis, Elouiza, Aimee Phillips, Scott Hoffman, Bestley, Isabella Keell, Luke Day, Jake Cohen, Elle + Michaela Yearwood-Dan, Kadiff Kirwan, Jonbers, DARKWAH, Roxxxan, Amann Souza, Tiishue, Vanilla Mulan, Sakeema, and ciaran.at.hotmaledotcom, as well as dancers Jonathan Baker and Theo Maddix.
“I have decided to make this summer a red hot Sauna summer!” Ware says. “I love how this song makes people feel, it was made for dancing.”
Released in April, Superbloom debuted at No. 2 on the UK album chart and earned praise from outlets like The Guardian, whose Alexis Petridis wrote, “Grownup, disco-infused pop is a crowded market, but Ware has consistently distinguished herself by the classiness of what she does, and the sense that she has great taste, truly loves and understands her source material and surrounds herself with likeminded collaborators.”
This fall, Ware will embark on her biggest North American tour ever. The Superbloom Tour will take her to venues including Toronto’s Massey Hall, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, The Anthem in DC, the Fillmore Philadelphia, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom, San Francisco’s The Warfield, Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre, and Mexico City’s Teatro Metropolitan. The North American shows will be followed by extensive travels throughout Europe and the UK, including a massive hometown show at London’s O2 Arena.
