Fable had been due to launch in “fall 2026” but now publishers Xbox Game Studios have confirmed it will now be released on February 7, 2027.

“This year is packed with incredible games for Xbox players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto 6,” they wrote in a post on social media.

“In order to plan our game launches through the holidays, in a way that works best for players, we’re moving Fable to February 2027 so it can have the dedicated moment it deserves. We’re excited to be giving players a major new look at Fable, as well as our broader lineup, at Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.”

The Fable game first confirmed back in 2020, ten years after the last entry in the beloved action role-playing series. The title was originally set to launch in 2025 but was delayed to give developers more time to finish the project

“While I know that’s not maybe the news people want to hear, what I want to assure people of is it’s definitely worth the wait,” said PlayGround Games boss Craig Duncan at the time. “I want the community to understand that we do these things for the best of the game and the teams. Ultimately that results in the best game for the community.”

“Amazing gameplay, British humour, Playground’s version of Albion is inspired by what has gone before with the franchise, but their take is quite frankly the most beautifully realised version of Albion you’ve ever seen,” he added.

Last month, Take-Two confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch November 19 following a viral 4Chan delay rumour while Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will release October 23.

In other news, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners won’t be able to play Call Of Duty: Warzone for much longer.
