Cold Cave will exhume their earliest transmissions this September with two immersive performances devoted to 2009’s Cremations, bringing the record to the stage in full for the first time.
The special live rituals are set for September 11 at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles and September 19 at First Unitarian Church in Brooklyn, two rooms well suited to a record that sounds like a dispatch from a mauseleum. For those who first found Wesley Eisold’s work in its rawest state, Cremations remains a crucial artifact of Cold Cave’s formation: bruised synth hymns, industrial abrasion, tape-warped electronics, and a kind of devotional despair pressed into damaged circuitry, where romance came buried in funeral voltage.
Joining Cold Cave at both shows is Berlin-born artist and singer Rosa Anschütz, who will perform material from her fourth album, Sabbatical. Anschütz’s voice moves with a spectral poise through cold wave pressure, avant-garde pop structures, and devotional electronics. These Cremations performances promise a sharper act of return: Cold Cave stepping back into the corroded room where it began, before Love Comes Close opened the door to a wider synth-pop language and before later records gave the project broader emotional architecture. Here, the focus falls on the project’s most damaged early material.
Tickets for the Los Angeles and Brooklyn performances are available here.
Cremations by Cold Cave
The announcement caps an especially active stretch for Cold Cave. Their most recent full-length, Passion Depression, released in October 2024, offered eight songs of romantic synth-pop, devotional ache, and after-hours intensity, while Wesley Eisold and Amy Lee have kept the project in steady motion. This year, Cold Cave toured the West Coast with Berlin-born singer Rosa Anschütz and Buzz Kull, who recently released the Deep Hate EP via Heartworm. Cold Cave then joined Clan of Xymox, Buzz Kull and Anschütz throughout April and May 2026, again with on the bill, turning the road into a moving map of Heartworm’s current darkwave, minimal synth, and post-punk sphere.
