First emerging in 2023, Stuart Fails To Save The Universe sees Kevin Sussman return as the titular comic book store owner as he tries to save the world from a multiverse Armageddon.

Also returning from the main show are Lauren Lapkus as Denise, Brian Posehn as Bert Kibbler, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke.

It has now been revealed at CCXP Mexico City that the series will debut on HBO Max in July, while Danny Elfman will compose the theme song. A few stills have also been unveiled, and you can check them out below.

The series sees Bloom “tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon”.

“Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke,” the synopsis adds. “Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well.”

The original Big Bang Theory originally ran for 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019, and follows a group of geeky friends living in California.

It has since produced two spin-offs, including Young Sheldon – which focuses on the childhood of Jim Parsons’s character Sheldon Cooper and concluded in 2024 after seven seasons. The second offshoot, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, follows the two characters from the latter show, and is gearing up for a third season.

Meanwhile, Kaley Cuoco – who played Penny on the original Big Bang Theory, said in 2024 that she would “100 per cent” do a reboot of the show.

“I would absolutely reprise that role. 100 per cent. I love that character, and I always will,” she told PEOPLE Magazine.

Further reflecting on the show, she said: “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre,” further calling her time on the series “some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had”.
