Berlin Glam Post-Punk Trio Lobsterbomb Make Waves in their Video for “Gravitation”

Berlin glam post-punk trio Lobsterbomb are rocking their way through the airwaves with their energy-packed new track, Gravitation. This is their fourth single off of their debut album Look Out, which will be out in the summer of 2023 via Duchess Box Records.

Deceptively bouncy in its anthemic chants, buzzy synths, fast-paced post-punk guitar work, and explosive vocals in its punching chorus, the actual words unfurl an unexpectedly complex theme.

“Lyrically it’s about when the analytical part of your brain is overwhelmed by an unexplainable connection,” says Crayon Jones, a British expat to Berlin. “When the universe takes the wheel and sends you spinning off into a new adventure.”

Gravitation brings to mind elements of Berlin (the band), The Damned, X, and Missing Persons…taking that gleeful punk mentality to the streets in the video, directed by Unlost Films. The clip showcases the flamboyant, joyful trio cavorting around looming Brutalist architecture and sculptures. The juxtaposition reflects that need to break free of the conformity of minimalism and the past, and to embrace the divine within. It’s a message of evolution, exploration, and synchronicity.

Lobsterbomb is comprised of Nico Rosch, Vik Chi, and Crayon Jones, who joined forces during the pandemic in 2020, drawing on the environment around them to make songs that mix fears and frustrations with an optimistic desire for seizing the moment to make positive changes. The band have been recording their album at their rehearsal space in Neukölln. “After months of writing, recording, and editing, we’re so excited to finally release our debut album this year,” says Rosch.

2022 was a big year for the band, who signed their album deal with Duchess Box, and sharing stages all over Germany with the likes of Pabst, ITCHY, Sofia Portanet and a performance at Synästhesie Festival.
