Megan Thee Stallion Slams Coverage Of Tory Lanez Shooting Trial

Megan Thee Stallion is blasting the reporting surrounding the Tory Lanez shooting trial.

During Tuesday’s preliminary hearing, a detective testified that an independent witness told cops he observed a fight break out between Megan and her friend and former assistant, Kelsey Harris, just moments before Meg was shot in the foot on July 12, 2020. The witness claimed the gun’s muzzle flash went off closer to Kelsey than Tory.

Tory’s team feels that the evidence raises questions and casts doubt about what Meg said about Tory being the shooter.

“Megan herself corroborated this account, telling officers shortly after the incident that the argument was between her and the other female passenger in the car,” says Tory’s attorney, Shawn Holley. “The independent witness also told officers that the muzzle flash was closest to the other female, which is corroborated by the gunshot residue found on the other female’s hands.”

Adds Holley, “It was further established that Megan gave several inconsistent accounts of what happened that night and that she omitted key information to the police. We look forward to the opportunity to cross examine her at trial about the numerous inconsistencies in her story.”

According to TMZ, Holley is referring to Meg telling responding officers that her injury was caused by broken glass, and not a bullet. She had previously explained that in the wake of George Floyd, she feared cops would shoot Tory if she told them a Black man had shot her.

Taking to Twitter, Megan slammed the media for trying to distract from the fact that she was shot. “Like I’ve been SHOT and the focus of some these headlines are dismissing that I was attacked with a WEPON WHILE I WAS UNARMED and trying to paint it as a cat fight between friends,” she tweeted. “Why do I have to relive this with everyone on the internet every day ? And watch y’all gaslight me.”

LAPD Detective Ryan Stogner testified Tuesday that an “intoxicated” Lanez shouted, “Dance bitch, dance!” before shooting Meg in the foot, and that he later apologized to Kelsey for doing something while drunk.

Stogner’s testimony convinced a judge that Tory should stand trial on felony charges. Before the ruling, Holley suggested that Kelsey became jealous after Tory claimed in the car that he and Megan had slept together and that Kelsey may have had possession of the gun that shot Megan.

A trial is now set to begin on Jan. 13. Tory is facing one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in a manner that caused great bodily injury, and one count of carrying a concealed, unregistered weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison.
