Jadakiss Announces Vinyl Reissue of Sophomore Album ‘Kiss of Death’

Jadakiss’ sophomore album Kiss of Death, is getting a vinyl reissue nearly twenty years after its initial release. The new versions of the album will return to wax in standard black and apple red variations.

Kiss of Death marked a turning point in Jadakiss’ career. Three years after his breakout debut record, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye, he had a lot of fans to please and a lot to prove, which he accomplished with a little production help from The Neptunes, Scott Storch, The Alchemist, and Swizz Beatz.

Recorded between New York and Los Angeles, Kiss of Death spawned four major singles: “U Make Me Wanna” with Mariah Carey, “Why” with Anthony Hamilton “Gettin’ It” with Kanye West, and “Welcome to D-Block” with Eminem. Styles P, and Sheek Louch. (Louch and Jadakiss had previously collaborated in the group LOX before Jadakiss began making a solo name with Ruff Ryders).

Outside his solo work, Jadakiss has also prominently featured in major songs from other artists throughout his career. His collaborations with fellow New Yorker Nas—from “Strong Disciple” to Nas’ own “Made You Look”—have aged into local classics. He also has his name to a few bars of Bronx-born Jennifer Lopez’ early hit “Jenny From The Block.” He shared a single with Freeway and Jake One at the end of May, “Ringin,” after releasing his most recent new LP Ignacius in 2020.
