Reba McEntire has released Tourist, her fifth music capsule, via MCA on August 21. The EP is built around the songwriting of GRAMMY Award winner Brandy Clark, who is credited on every song in the collection. Clark, recently named one of The New York Times’ 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters, co-wrote the title track, which is the only new song on the capsule, with Jeremy Spillman and Travis Meadows.
McEntire told Billboard that Clark’s writing has repeatedly connected with her. “Every song I’ve recorded of Brandy’s, pretty much every song I’ve listened to that she sent to me, touches my heart,” McEntire said. “She’s one of my favorite songwriters of all time.” McEntire and Clark most recently shared the stage at the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards, where McEntire was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Trailblazer.” (Clark wrote “Trailblazer” with Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson.)
The capsule forms part of McEntire’s yearlong celebration of 50 years in music, with a new installment planned for each month. Rather than presenting the anniversary as one retrospective release, the series pairs a new recording with songs selected from across McEntire’s five-decade career. Four 2026 capsules have arrived before Tourist: One Night In Tulsa, Hurt Like That, Ain’t Gonna Keep It Waitin’, and Ring Ring.
