My Chemical Romance played ‘Bulletproof Heart’ for the first time in four years as they kicked off the North American leg of their ‘Long Live The Black Parade’ anniversary tour.

As always, on their opening night at the Citi Field stadium in New York, Gerard Way and co. performed their 2006 album ‘The Black Parade’ in full but as they moved to the B-stage in the venue, they also performed the 2010 single from ‘Danger Days’ for the first time since 2022. They went on to play ‘The Black Parade: The B-Sides’ track ‘Heaven Help Us’ along with hits like ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise)’, ‘Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)’, ‘Give ‘Em Hell, Kid’ and ‘Helena’.
They wrapped up their performance with ‘Demolition Lovers’, from their 2002 debut album ‘I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love’.
It comes after the emo icons completed the European leg of their tour which included three nights at Wembley Stadium the final one of which saw Way to discuss the video game Baldur’s Gate.
It led to Swen Vincke, the founder and CEO of Baldur’s Gate 3 game studio Larian, responding: “I think we’ll add a parade to the next game.”
They opened the UK leg at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium, where Way paid homage to Liverpool FC by revealing a Liverpool shirt onstage. The band also dusted off ‘Danger Days’ track ‘Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back’.
In a five-star review of the Anfield show, NME described My Chemical Romance as “prodigal sons of emo” and said they delivered “an assured performance that highlights how much more is being offered here than pop-punk nostalgia, the grit of Way’s vocals always remaining the main attraction.”

The ‘Danger Days’ deluxe edition was first announced in May and includes the original album alongside bonus material. They previewed the reissue by sharing their 2010 BBC Radio 1 cover of Pulp’s ‘Common People’.
‘Danger Days’ was the band’s fourth studio album and won them two prizes at the 2011 NME Awards. It would turn out to be their final full-length release before their 2013 split.
They reunited in 2019 and released comeback single ‘The Foundations Of Decay’ in 2022. Earlier this year, it was also reported that My Chemical Romance were working on a secret theatre project, after playwright and actor John Cameron Mitchell said he had a “project for theatre” in development with the band.
