LIL LEAGUE from EXILE TRIBE, the six-member dance, vocal, and rap group representing the fresh and fearless energy of Japan’s next generation of pop acts, has released “Boku wo Sagashiteta,” one of the title tracks from its upcoming double A-side single alongside “LOCA.”
While “LOCA” brings the heat with a high-energy, cross-border collaboration with NEX and AA from Thai breakout group BUS because of you i shine, the double A-side single showcases a completely different, vulnerable side of LIL LEAGUE with “Boku wo Sagashiteta.”
Amid the passing of everyday life, everyone faces invisible anxieties and doubts at least once. “Boku wo Sagashiteta” depicts the journey of moving forward while gradually accepting oneself despite those struggles. Designed to gently and softly encourage those taking a new step, the ballad touches the heart with a bittersweet melody and delicate lyrics.
The track’s arrangement centers on a simple ensemble of piano, strings, and brass, utilizing a dynamic progression that begins quietly and gradually builds in emotion. This thoughtful composition allows the members’ vocal expressiveness to shine brightly throughout.
The single’s music video explores themes deeply relevant in today’s digital age. Precisely because people are constantly connected through social media, many often “lose sight of their true selves” by comparing themselves to others.
In the visual narrative, member SORA NAMBA plays a boy struggling with that very loneliness and anxiety. The story follows the protagonist as he chases after a “second self” who suddenly appears, only to find himself lost in a deserted town. As he retraces his memories with his friends, he gradually rediscovers his true self.
“When filming alone, I focused on that sense of loneliness, so being with the other members naturally brought a feeling of warmth and reassurance,” says member SORA NAMBA. “In the MV, the protagonist rediscovers himself through memories with his friends. Having spent so much time together with the members in real life, I wanted to convey those shared moments as something truly precious.”
Addressing the message behind the work, NAMBA adds: “It’s easy to lose sight of who you are by comparing yourself to others or chasing an ideal. But you don’t have to become someone else – there are things that make you uniquely you. I hope this release encourages people to embrace what makes them unique and feel comfortable being themselves.”
With both tracks now available on digital streaming platforms, LIL LEAGUE’s latest double A-side single highlights the group’s impressive range, from global summer anthems to deeply personal ballads. The physical CD release will follow on August 26.
