Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch November 19 but it’s been over a year since any new information about the highly-anticipated sequel has been shared by Rockstar Games. There’s been plenty of speculation about how much they’ll sell the most expensive video game ever made for, while some fans are worried the game will be delayed for a third time.

However it looks like GTA 6 will launch this year, with pre-orders going live next week (June 25), which will also confirm how much you’ll be paying for the game.

“Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 6 will officially begin on June 25 on digital storefronts and at other select retailers,” Rockstar wrote on social media yesterday (June 18) alongside a new teaser trailer. The 30 second clip revealed the game’s cover art, soundtracked by ‘80s-inspired synth pop music.

Explaining the 13 year wait between GTA 5 and 6 Strauss Zelnick, boss of publishers Take Two Interactive, said: “It takes time to do something that is as good as it can possibly be.”

“It was not a simple story of ‘wow guys, it took you a long time to [release a new game]’ because look at what Rockstar launched [with GTA 5],” he continued. “They relaunched and remade the title for PC, they launched and remade the title for each new generation [of consoles] and they launched GTA Online. They’ve been up to quite a lot [over the last 13 years]. One of the reasons why GTA 6 is so widely anticipated is because we have that GTA ecosystem that Rockstar built.”

Zelnick also revealed that he’s expecting people to bunk off work to play the game on release day.

In other news, last year’s hugely popular The Simpsons collaboration with Fortnite was played by more than 80million people.
