AMPERS&ONE Carve their Identity in 4th Mini Album “DEFINITION”

AMPERS&ONE returns with their 4th mini album “DEFINITION” on April 8.

The album title,  “DEFINITION”—meaning “definition” or “to define”—carries the significance of AMPERS&ONE establishing their own identity and direction, thereby setting the standards for their future path. The album’s slogan, “& NOW, WE ARE HERE,” symbolically conveys this message. Here, “HERE” signifies not merely their current physical location, but rather a pivotal reference point and a new starting line where AMPERS&ONE stands after having discovered their own unique standards.

The title track, ‘GOD,’ is a dance song characterized by a trap beat overlaid with distinctive ethnic synth sounds, weaving an emo-inspired sensibility throughout the entire track. The title “GOD” serves as a double entendre, simultaneously referring to the divine deity and the “gat”—the iconic traditional Korean hat. The song encapsulates a determination to rise again while offering a prayer for divine protection. In particular, the fusion of Eastern-style sounds and the dance genre creates a unique sonic intersection that enhances the listening experience.

The music video for “GOD” dramatically unfolds a narrative themed around a chessboard, telling the story of individuals—previously labeled as underdogs—who reject the very game of winning and losing to take control and flip the board themselves. It depicts a journey in which those who once competed within the world’s established rules suddenly gain self-awareness; realizing they are not adversaries but rather “us—in the same state,” they ultimately cast aside the notions of crowns and victory to transcend the game entirely. This narrative is further enhanced by Ampers&one’s elevated visuals and a captivating atmosphere that blurs the traditional boundaries between winners and losers, creating a unique and distinct charm.

The new release features a total of six tracks, including the title song  ‘Hit Me Up,’ a reinterpretation of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s ‘Italian Polka’; ‘What You Talking About,’ a boom-bap-based hip-hop dance track; ‘My Way,’ which captures a bold ambition to live life according to one’s own standards; ‘All Eyes On You,’ a fan song expressing gratitude and love for their fan club, ANDEAR; and ‘Tears In Your Smile,’ a track where AMPERS&ONE’s emotive vocals offer deep comfort.

For this album as well, Na Kamden and Makaya participated in writing the lyrics for every track—including the title song “GOD”—thereby infusing the music with the group’s distinct identity. By translating their deepened musical color and message into lyrics, they have significantly elevated the artistic quality and completeness of the album.

AMPERS&ONE will embark on their US Tour in May.
