Belgian coldwave outfit Pornographie Exclusive tears through the gray veneer of routine with a surge of raw, electrified emotion. A Brussels-based duo bound by music and magnetism, Severine Cayron and Jerome Vandewattyne fuse cold wave, darkwave, shoegaze, and electro into something visceral: an escape, a reckoning, a pulse against the monotony. Their self-titled debut was not so much recorded as conjured, a collection of tracks pieced together across clandestine hotel stays in Berlin, Paris, Rotterdam, and London, where reality blurred and their sound sharpened.
Their vision stretches far beyond the confines of the stage. Pornographie Exclusive dismantles the traditional live show, turning performance into cinema, sound into spectacle. Instead of sweating it out in dimly lit clubs, they bring their music to the silver screen, performing live as the score to their own surreal, intoxicating film—a throwback to silent-era orchestration, reimagined for a world teetering between the decadent and the deranged. It’s Lynchian, feverish, unrelenting—a collision of movement and melody already making waves at the Oldenburg Film Festival, Montréal, and Brussels.
One-Way Ticket To The Other Side refuses the ordinary, defies the expected, and ignites a collision of music and cinema that exists beyond category. Conceived by Pornographie Exclusive, co-produced by Torsten Neumann and actress Deborah Kara Unger (Crash, The Game, Fear X), this project rips through the conventions of anthology films and live performance, delivering an experience where sight and sound converge into something both immediate and dreamlike.
Rooted in the band’s self-titled debut, the film stitches together deeply personal vignettes: each short film reflecting the raw emotion and electric energy of their music. Two outlaws drift through a world on the edge of meaning, crossing paths with the lost and the forsaken, their road trip slipping between absurdity and revelation. Shot with a guerrilla ethos, each segment burns with a grainy, dream-state quality, a cinematic tableau born from the music itself.
Operating with a symbolic budget of $99 per film, Pornographie Exclusive embraced an outsider DIY ethos, rejecting traditional constraints and embracing unfiltered urgency. A team of international filmmakers shaped each piece, their visions converging into a singular, surreal odyssey. Here, music doesn’t follow the story; the story is born from the music, a testament to defiance, autonomy, and artistic necessity. In a context where standing out without a major label is a challenge, Pornographie Exclusive emerged as an obvious choice to deliver a work free from conventional codes.
The cinematic architects of One Way Ticket to the Other Side are a renegade ensemble of filmmakers, each shaping the underground in their own way. Douglas Buck (Cutting Moments, Family Portraits), lauded by Sean Baker and Gaspar Noé, brings his stark, unsettling vision, honed through collaborations with Lou Doillon and Chloë Sevigny. Jen Gatien (Men of War), daughter of nightlife kingpin Peter Gatien, injects her production prowess, shaped by work with Abel Ferrara and Xan Cassavetes. Portuguese experimentalist Edgar Pêra (Telepathic Letters, The Nothingness Club), a frequent collaborator of Jean-Luc Godard and Peter Greenaway, arrives fresh from a Locarno Festival premiere. Buddy Giovinazzo (Combat Shock, Life is Hot in Cracktown), a titan of American indie cinema, contributes his raw storytelling edge.
From Berlin, Martina Schöne-Radunski (Flieg Steil) and Jérôme Vandewattyne (Spit’n’Split) infuse DIY radicalism, while David Gregory, founder of Severin Films, curates a cinephile’s fever dream. Viral sensation Truman Kewley (Beautiful Friend) offers a new-media subversion. Polish director Patrycja Planik (Faggots) fuses activism and art, while Cannes-based Guillaume Campanacci (Whenever I’m Alone With You) channels collaborations with David Fincher and David Lynch. Japanese auteur Katsuki Kuroyanagi (The City) completes the lineup with his festival-acclaimed perspective.

In addition to the short films directed by each filmmaker, Pornographie Exclusive created and filmed twelve interludes that serve as links between the segments. They also composed brand-new, unreleased tracks specifically for this project, which are not part of their debut album. The live musical performance, lasting 75 minutes, is orchestrated directly using MIDI synthesizers, perfectly synchronizing sound and visuals for an organic and immersive real-time experience.
