Amid the industrial glow of Berlin’s ever-evolving labyrinth, Brazilian post-punk outfit MTTM—the trio of Alexandre Franco, Jean Gengnagel, and Aaron Dantas—channel the jittery neon twitch of the ‘80s and transform it into a sleek, jagged vision for the present day. Their sound marries the haunted introspection of post-punk with the crystalline gleam of New Wave and the surgically precise pulse of synth-pop. Even so, live, MTTM bristle with a ragged human current that ensures the cold click of electronics is never left without a vital, beating heart.
Their second single, “In Your Skin,” snakes through the shadows with whispered urgency, building a spine-tingling tension between self-reproach and an almost feverish desire. Think the moody detachment of Depeche Mode or the theatrical burn of Bowie, refracted through the lens of modern-day darkwave provocateurs like Twin Tribes and She Past Away. Yet MTTM manages to stake out a voice all their own: a sumptuous weave of black-clad nostalgia and forward-looking ferocity.
Tinged with confessional fervor, “In Your Skin” is a siren call from the edges of guilt and surrender. Each lyric is an intimate flash, like stepping into a moment of secret reckoning where longing and regret twist together. It’s a track that begs you to peel back each glimmering synth layer, unveiling truths both bruised and tender. All the while, the interplay of shimmering electronics and measured percussion heightens the track’s slow-burn allure, inviting you to succumb to those latent hungers for connection, for absolution—perhaps even for ruin.

In the run-up to their forthcoming album, MTTM have begun unfurling a broader palette of sound—this time driven by real drums alongside the angular guitars, analog synths, and urgent vocals that define their aesthetic. Already veterans of stages shared with Booka Shade, Anthony Rother, and Karol Conka (to name but a few), they’ve also brought their twitchy, neon-lit presence to major festivals like Planeta Atlântida.
Berliners can witness the next chapter of MTTM’s evolution on March 1 at Slaughterhouse Moabit, where they’ll unveil their combustive blend of heart, machine, and spectral atmosphere in the flesh.
