In the hush of a crowded celebration, one might sense the thinning of the boundary of self. Voices drift past, laughter flickers along the fringes, yet the mind remains elsewhere—perhaps suspended between two worlds. Lips move, releasing half-formed utterances, while an invisible wall stands between the host of activity and the silent observer within. In another sphere, hours tick by beneath the glow of a solitary task, and the body forgets its own weight and rhythm. The pages turn, the screens glare, the hammering of keys echo in isolation.
During those stretches of time, reality feels distant, brushed aside by the machinery of repetition and the drone of gentle oblivion. Strangely, a new viewpoint emerges, as though the consciousness hovers high above, witnessing rather than participating. Is it solace or separation, this gentle drifting from ordinary presence? The question lingers, a soft murmur in the wind, floating through unclaimed corridors of thought. And we vanish.
Birmingham’s duo Death of the Story, sizzles with a cunning collision of new wave rhythms, electronic echoes, guitar howls, and raucous racket. Fueled by a fondness for eccentric flair and quirky pop, they refuse to spin out the same bland tunes from the “conveyor belt of shit.” Instead, they harness their hunger for cacophonous commotion, mechanical drum machines, and the brute force of guitars.
Death of the Story surges forward, bridging the primal with the futuristic with their new single, I’m Vanishing From View. The song roars to life with an undercurrent of disintegration: that slippery sense of dissolving identity where you can waltz straight toward finality. In that space, dance becomes deliverance and denial all at once. The lyrics crackle with urgency, lingering with tension, forging a realm of roaring energy.
Founded by Rajah and Dean Morton, Death of the Story salutes such singular influences as Fad Gadget, Talking Heads, Hot Chip, Head of David, Killing Joke, Grauzone, and The The. They beckon fearless souls to forge a curious spark between mania and meaning in their their rhythmic rapture.
