Paramore’s Hayley Williams teases solo shows for 2025

Paramore’s Hayley Williams has teased the possibility of a string of solo shows in 2025, five years after she had originally planned them.

The singer’s first solo studio album ‘Petals For Armor’ was released in May 2020 and Williams had intended to play the record live on a UK and European tour that month, before plans had to be shelved amid the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has since released her second solo record ‘Flowers For Vases / Descansos’ in 2021, but has yet to play a sustained run on solo shows to support either release.

Now, in a message on her Instagram Stories on her 36th birthday, Williams has suggested that she may seek to put that right in 2025, writing: “I’m going to try and finally play some shows next year that would’ve happened nearly 5 years ago now. That is, if the world doesn’t fucking stop before then.”

She also thanked fans for their birthday wishes, saying “It’s beautiful to feel seen and celebrated”.

Reflecting on the past 12 months, she added: “35 felt like tilling soil and throwing little seeds down. Waiting, waiting, waiting to see. 36 is exciting and a little scary, already. So much to hope for. I’m still in the dirt, ready for whatever might grow. Fruit?”

In a four-star review of ‘Petals For Armor’, NME wrote: “The underlying message of Hayley Williams’ stunning solo album is this: wear your flaws like a coat of gleaming armour and find strength in being open and vulnerable. This would be a prescient message at any time, but seems even more so in today’s uncertain climate. We could all do with a little kindness.”

The 2021 follow-up also scored four stars, with NME noting: “Perhaps partly as a result of how it was created, ‘Flowers for Vases / Descansos’ is less spiny and biting than her debut solo album. While that record brought to mind the intricacies of Thom Yorke and Warpaint, and burned with a simmering anger, this comes from a softer, more exposed place with Williams’ voice as its centrepiece.”

“As if tugging up grubby fistfuls of dead weeds to make room for living things to flourish, ‘Flowers for Vases / Descansos’ rakes back the debris and leaves Hayley Williams exposed. Sowing new seeds, it’s an approach that reaps rewards.”

Elsewhere, Williams recently reacted to Doechii citing Paramore as an influence, declaring that the ‘Denial Is A River’ rapper “better win every Grammy”.

She also showed up at a Cyndi Lauper concert in Nashville last month to perform ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’.
