On November 15, SM Entertainment released a statement in Korean and English announcing that former RIIZE singer Seunghan would be launching a solo career next year.

“Seunghan is currently preparing to debut as a solo artist in the second half of 2025,” it said. The agency added that he is “receiving full support and guidance” regarding his training, music production and more in preparation for his debut.

“Seunghan hopes to show a new side of himself as a solo artist and pursue his talent and dreams. We ask that you watch over him warmly and give lots of support and encouragement,” it said.

SM Entertainment also announced the launch of Seunghan’s official social media channels, including a new Instagram account, on which he has shared his first post.

Seunghan initially debuted as a member of RIIZE in September 2023, but soon went on hiatus after being embroiled in controversy over leaked images and videos from his personal life from his private social media accounts.

Last month, SM Entertainment said that Seunghan would return to the group. However, the agency backtracked on the announcement just a day later, following backlash from some fans, with Seunghan officially leaving RIIZE on October 14.

“I think that my leaving the group is the right path for everyone. I don’t want to cause any more hurt or confusion for the fans, and I don’t want to harm the members any further,” he wrote in a message following his withdrawal.

After Seunghan left the group, several K-pop retailers across the globe shared that they would halt restocks of RIIZE albums and merchandise due to the controversy surrounding his departure.
