Ariana Grande has “sincerely” apologised to Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark after the horror hostess recalled her experience of meeting the pop star.
Elvira, aka actor Cassandra Peterson, recently participated in a Q&A session at the annual Halloween event Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park, California.

As reported by Parade, Elvira was asked about some of her experiences meeting celebrities before someone in the audience shouted out Grande’s name. The spooky season icon then remembered the ‘Yes, And?’ singer attending one of her events.
“And she brought 20 guests. So she wanted 21 tickets… and we gave her the tickets,” Elvira explained. “She comes backstage and she asked if I could take pictures with all of her friends and relatives she brought.”
Peterson went on to say that she took “a picture with every single one of” Grande’s party, adding: “I sign autographs for every single one of them. Then I say to her, ‘Can we take a photo together?’ and she goes, ‘No, I don’t really do that’.”
In response to the story, the crowd began to boo Grande’s apparent dismissal of the actor. This continued when Elvira told her fans that the star “left before my show started and all of the relatives stayed”.

Someone else on the panel joked that Grande was “playing the wrong witch” in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked – a nod to her portrayal of Glinda the Good Witch, opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Wicked Witch Of The West.
A clip of the Q&A has since gone viral on TikTok, where some users have defended Grande – with one saying: “That doesn’t seem like her.” Others questioned the story too, “’cause when does Ariana not take a picture with someone?”.
Elsewhere, a fan suggested that the run-in could have been a “misunderstanding” and wondered if “Ariana didn’t want people to know she was there for some reason” on the night in question.
Elvira has since shared screenshots of Parade‘s article on her Instagram account, along with a clip of the moment. “Story time! Context is everything!” she wrote in the caption.
Now, Grande has responded in the comments section of the post.
“I’m so disheartened to see this. I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because I had an anxiety attack and to my memory, left before the rest of my family,” she wrote.
The singer went on to explain that her meeting with Elvira was “around seven years ago”, at a time when she “was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places”.
“But if I’m misremembering this moment, I sincerely apologise for offending you so,” Grande added.
“Thank you for being so nice to my mom, she told me how lovely you were (she might have different feelings about that now but I’ll talk to her… clearly, we all have our days!).”
She concluded her message: “Sending love always. ♡ You’ll always be our queen of Halloween!”
