Written and directed by Nolan, the film adapts Homer’s ancient Greek poem and follows Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, on his treacherous journey home after the Trojan War.

Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland as his son Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as his wife Penelope.

The cast also includes ZendayaRobert PattinsonLupita Nyong’oCharlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Samantha Morton and Mia Goth.

The film was released in cinemas on July 17 and made $264million (£196million) globally over its opening weekend, making it Nolan’s biggest non-Batman opening to date.

In a five-star review, NME wrote: “Less a case of them not making ’em like they used to, watching the film leaves you with a sense that this sort of thing probably won’t be made at all for too much longer – the sheer scale, ambition and weight of it seeming to belong to a different world already. It’s hard to see how cinema can get much bigger than this.”

The film’s original score was composed by Ludwig Göransson, marking his third collaboration with Nolan after Tenet and Oppenheimer.

The soundtrack also includes ‘When I’m Home’, an end-credits collaboration between Göransson, James Blake and Travis Scott. Nolan is credited as a co-writer on the track. Scott also appears in the film as a bard, having previously contributed ‘The Plan’ to the soundtrack for Tenet.

Elsewhere, Samantha Morton, who plays the goddess Circe, features on the appropriately titled score track ‘Circe’.
