Muireann Bradley has released her new original song “Dancing On My Grave,” the latest track from her upcoming Blackwood Pew EP. The six-track collection is due October 23 via Fontana Records/Verve Forecast, alongside the physical double EP Rose Dogs & Blackwood Pew. Bradley’s new song takes inspiration from the murder-ballad tradition of the 1920s and 1930s and from the circumstances surrounding Delta blues musician Robert Johnson’s death in Mississippi in 1938.
Bradley developed “Dancing On My Grave” from a guitar part she had written before entering the studio. She completed the track in collaboration with producer Declan Gaffney and Ella Walker, while its lyrics drew on Johnson’s story and Bradley’s own approach to open-ended storytelling. The song follows her previously released cover of Daniel Johnston’s “True Love Will Find You In The End” and original single “Not Going Back,” both of which also appear on Blackwood Pew.
The EP takes its title from the instrument used throughout the recordings, a guitar handcrafted from Australian Blackwood reclaimed from a 200-year-old church pew in Tasmania. A fan built the custom guitar for Bradley after seeing her perform and later gave it to her. Blackwood Pew combines Bradley’s original songwriting with the country blues and folk traditions that have been central to her work. Its October physical release will be paired with all five songs from her 2025 EP Rose Dogs as Rose Dogs & Blackwood Pew. Bradley will mark the release with a run of record-store appearances beginning October 22 at Spindizzy in Dublin, followed by dates including Rough Trade East in London, Truck Store in Oxford, and Rough Trade in Bristol.
Bradley’s debut album, I Kept These Old Blues, preceded appearances on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny and The Late Late Show. In August 2026, she topped the bill at Féile Moth at London’s MOTH Club, an Irish cultural festival organized by Fontaines D.C. drummer Tom Coll and folk collective Broadside Hacks. Her recent live schedule has also included supporting Brooke Combe at KOKO, joining Jeff Goldblum for select dates, and performing at California’s Harvest Moon Gathering alongside Neil Young, Lana Del Rey, and Beck. Upcoming dates include Other Voices Festival in Derry on September 25, Take Root Festival in Groningen on November 7, and London’s Stone Nest on November 13.
