Epic Games has announced it is stopping active development on its live-service fighting game 2XKO due to low player numbers.

Featuring characters from Arcane and League Of Legends, 2XKO is a 2v2 free-to-play fighting game where players can control both characters or team up with a mate. It launched in early access last October before getting a full release in January 2026.
However in a new update, developers Epic Games have confirmed that they’re stopping work on the title. “2XKO’s active development will conclude at the end of 2026. Over the last few months, we’ve been monitoring 2XKO’s trajectory closely, and what we’ve seen is painting a clear, consistent picture: while a lot of you jumped in to try the game and there’s an incredible community that plays every day, we haven’t seen enough players stick with the game to get to a path toward sustainability,” they wrote in a blog post.
With a heavy heart, the @Play2XKO team shares an update about the future.

Servers will remain online for the rest of 2026 and planned updates will still be released – including the introduction of two new champions Lux and Samira. “After that, servers will remain on to support online play. Offline play is unaffected. We’ll give advanced notice if any of that changes.” Epic Games is also refunding all purchases made before August 20.
“Our dream was to build a game that the fighting game community would love to play with their friends. We wanted to be respectful of the incredible games that came before ours and bring Riot’s take on live service to a new set of hungry players,” the post explained. “Our goal now is to do right by the players who have invested in us so far and want to continue playing 2XKO, as well as the Rioters who have poured everything into delivering on this dream.”
2XKO featured an official anthem from Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante while the game’s theme ‘Let’s Go’ was written by Polyphia.
In other news, the God Of War TV show has recast its lead role of Kratos, with Dave Bautista replacing the injured Ryan Hurst.
