In just a matter of years, the Air Jordan 1 Highs went from one of Nike’s most popular silhouettes on the market to straight bricks as hype for the sneaker tanked to the point that Jordan Brand is said to be significantly reducing the amount of Air Jordan 1s it plans on releasing in the near future.

Still, Jordan Brand isn’t giving up on its classic silhouette altogether and has collaborated with MoMA for its latest iteration of the sneaker that helped make Michael Jordan fly.

According to Sneaker News Jordan Brand and MoMA will be releasing a new Air Jordan 1 in the Spring of 2027. While we don’t know if the sneaker’s popularity will have rebounded by then, it will be interesting to see what this collaboration creates when it’s all said and done.

Per Sneaker News:

For MoMA, the collaboration represents another major footwear moment in a relationship with Nike that dates back nearly a decade. Most famously, the MoMA Design Store was connected to the release of Virgil Abloh’s black Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 in 2018, one of the most coveted shoes from the late designer’s partnership with the Swoosh. The relationship has continued in more unexpected forms since, including collaborative Nike socks in 2024.

More recently, the MoMA Design Store served as the exclusive launch partner for the Nike Air Max 95 OG “Reverse Gradient” in 2025. That release drew from an early design sketch by Air Max 95 creator Sergio Lozano, making the museum an especially appropriate home for a shoe centered around footwear design history.

Even if they make these extremely limited, the demand for Air Jordan 1s is at an all-time low. Hopefully, this collaboration can breathe new life into the sneaker.
