Phoebe Bridgers has cancelled the rest of her intimate UK shows this week due to illness.
The singer-songwriter played two small gigs at the Union Chapel in London on Monday (August 17), which was her 32nd birthday.
She had been scheduled to continue the brief trek with a pair of small dates in Kingston today (Wednesday August 19), before heading to Brighton tomorrow (Thursday August 20) and concluding the run in Bristol on Friday (21).
The special shows were being held to celebrate the release of Bridgers’ third album ‘Lost Weekend’ last Friday (August 19).
However, she took to Instagram Stories this morning to confirm that the rest of the dates have been axed for the time being. “I got appendicitis for my birthday,” she wrote, captioning a photo of herself in a hospital bed.
“Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I’ll make it up to you!!!!”
Banquet Records, which was hosting today’s Kingston shows, said it was “working closely with her global teams” and would share an update on the rescheduled performances.

Per the NHS, appendicitis requires “urgent treatment in hospital”. It is described as “swelling and infection in your appendix (part of your bowel)” that “causes pain in the lower right side of your abdomen”.
Bridgers is due to embark on the North American leg of her phone-free ‘Lost Tour’ next month before, visiting the UK and Europe in November and December.
The UK and Ireland run includes shows at Dublin’s 3Arena, Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s The O2. Find any remaining tickets here (UK and Ireland) and here (North America).
NME gave ‘Lost Weekend’ a glowing five-star review, calling it “a staggering, strange and stirring opus”. It added: “[It’s] the opposite of emotional evasion: more a reckoning with herself and the romantic and familial love and loss that have shaped her story and storytelling.
“It’s a feat that could only be achieved by a songwriter and musician self-assured in their penmanship and musicality, someone who may have started the journey of writing her third album feeling lost, but by the end wasn’t unmoored at all.”
Bridgers has earned praise from her friend and former collaborator Taylor Swift, too, with the pop giant hailing ‘Lost Weekend’ as “an absolute triumph in every way”.
Meanwhile, fans are speculating that the track ‘The Governor’s Waltz’ is about her past relationship with Paul Mescal, and there is a rumour that Geese frontman Cameron Winter sings under an alias on two ‘Lost Weekend’ songs. The artist also hid a collaboration with former Black Country, New Road singer Isaac Wood on the LP.
Bridgers led fans around a roller-skating rink at a recent album listening party in the US, and premiered it in full at planetariums worldwide, accompanied by some custom-made visual displays. Elsewhere, she explained why the project took “forever” to make.
