DJ Shadow is rereleasing his classic album ‘Endtroducing’ and heading on tour to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Released in September 1996, the record was the debut from the American DJ and record producer, and marked a milestone in instrumental hip-hop.
Blending influences from rock, psychedelia, jazz and more, ‘Endtroducing’ was recorded between DJ Shadow’s home studio, The Glue Factory in San Francisco, and Dan The Automator’s studio, and became the first sample-only album.
In the three decades since it was first released, the album has become a classic among fans and helped pave the way for modern electronica, thanks to its undertones of lo-fi sounds, ambient soundscapes and more.
Artists including Radiohead have cited it as a source of inspiration too, as did Deftones, who joined forces with DJ Shadow in 2020 to drop a remix for their seminal album ‘White Pony’, titled ‘Black Stallion’. It was always their dream for him to remix the whole record, as they once told NME.
Now, to celebrate 30 years since the record first dropped, the DJ – real name Joshua Paul Davis – is re-releasing it on September 18.

As well as rereleasing the album to mark the milestone, DJ Shadow will also be heading out an anniversary tour, which kicks off in San Diego next month, and includes slots in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and more.

Earlier this year, DJ Shadow also released ‘The Mo’Wax Singles 1993-1997’, a box set which combined all of his original single releases for the Mo’Wax label, as well as previously unreleased alternative mixes and edits.
His most recent album was ‘Action Adventure’, which dropped in 2024.
