Phoebe Bridgers to make acting debut in A24 drama ‘Primetime’

Phoebe Bridgers will make her acting debut in the upcoming film Primetime inspired by the series To Catch A Predator. Find all the details below.

The indie icon and Boygenius member is set to release her long-awaited third solo record ‘Lost Weekend’ next Friday (August 14) via Dead Oceans. It comes as the follow-up to 2020’s ‘Punisher’, and has already been previewed by lead single ‘Lost Boys’.

Ahead of the album’s release, it’s now been revealed that Bridgers will make her acting debut in director Lance Oppenheim’s upcoming new film Primetime, which stars Robert Pattinson.

Bridgers’ character has not yet been confirmed, but Pattinson will play Chris Hansen, the host and creator of To Catch a Predator. The film follows the rise of the Dateline program where Hansen confronts child predators, and also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher and Bokeem Woodbine.

Primetime is set to be released on September 25, and is being distributed by A24. Check out the official trailer below.

In other Bridgers news, ahead of the release, she has also revealed the full tracklist for the album, and sparked rumours that it could feature guest vocals from Geese frontman Cameron Winter, who may be singing under an alias.

She’s also announced that fans can listen to the album in full at planetariums around the world, and each listening session will come with a specially-designed visual display.

As well as that, Bridgers will also be hosting an exclusive listening event for top fans on Spotify in New Jersey soon as part of a partnership with Spotify and Dead Oceans.

Additionally, there will be over 300 midnight album release parties taking place worldwide on August 13, allowing fans to listen to ‘Lost Weekend’ for the first time together. Events are scheduled for the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Australia, Japan, Brazil, South Korea and more, and you can find more details here.

The tracklist for ‘Lost Weekend’ includes contributions from Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, as well as from Christian Lee HutsonJack Antonoff and an unknown guest named ‘Son-John Johnson’, who many suspect to be Cameron Winter.

Bridgers recently performed two different versions of the lead single on The Tonight Show, including a haunting acoustic rendition. Before then, the indie star played her first solo live show in three years in Roswell, New Mexico, where she debuted three new songs.

Later this year, Bridgers will head out for a tour across North America, the UK and Europe, celebrating ‘Lost Weekend’. Support comes from Alex G at the North American shows and Isaac Wood at the UK and European dates.

The singer has also confirmed that there will be a “no phones” rule at all upcoming gigs, with phones and other recording devices locked away during the performances. You can view the full list of dates here and buy any remaining tickets in the UK here and US here.
