The show stars Michael C. Hall as the titular serial killer, and is a sequel series to the popular thriller show Dexter, which ran from 2006-2013. Season one of Resurrection aired last summer, and its success has led to a second season being greenlit by streamer Paramount Plus. Season two will air later this year, and new photos have shown Odadjian in a tense face-off with Dexter.

The official synopsis for the season (shared by Variety) teases that Dexter is “caught between two killers – one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated – all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a midlife crisis. Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter.”

Pictures from the new season have been shared by Paramount Plus’ social media channel, and show Odadjian’s character, R.H. Martin, tied to a column as Dexter looks on menacingly. The bassist has worked extensively in filmmaking, directing several music videos for System Of A Down, including the classic ‘Toxicity’, while he has also acted in the film Zoolander.

System Of A Down have not released a studio album since 2005’s ‘Hypnotize’, and in 2024 Shavo Odadjian spoke to NME about what it would take for the band to release new material. “If I knew, I’d make it happen,” he said. “If it happens, we’ll all be at the right place, at the right time, in the right mood, at the right juncture in life.”

NME gave a glowing five-star review of System Of A Down’s recent gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, writing that the band “ultimately defy and redefine what stadium rock is and can be.” Elsewhere, frontman Serj Tankian has suggested that drummer John Dolmayan no longer supports US President Donald Trump.
