The beginning of the end for Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicks off with Avengers: Doomsday.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the upcoming superhero film will see the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men converge to take down Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Doomsday is slated to be released on December 18, 2026, which will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars the following year.

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse – June 18, 2027
While not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this animated sequel will close out the Spider-Verse trilogy. This third entry has been delayed several times but all the main voice cast are set to return, including Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld.
Avengers: Secret Wars – December 17, 2027
The sixth Avengers film, Avengers: Secret Wars, will bring an end to Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will serve as a direct sequel to Avengers: Doomsday, and will also be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Ghost Rider – 2028
As announced at San Diego Comic-Con this year, Ryan Gosling will take on the role of Ghost Rider in a new film from director Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine).
This will be the third film adaptation of Ghost Rider, after Nicolas Cage played the role in 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2011’s Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance.
Black Panther 3 – December 15, 2028
Director Ryan Coogler will return to direct a third Black Panther outing, with David Jonsson set to play T’Challa’s son. Other confirmed cast members include Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Denzel Washington in an undisclosed role.

X-Men reboot – TBA
Marvel Studios confirmed in 2025 it is working on an X-Men film from Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier. A release date is yet to be announced.
Shang-Chi 2 – TBA
A sequel to Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings was previously confirmed by actor Simu Liu in 2023. While Marvel Studios hasn’t given any official update on its progress, director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed to ScreenRant in July 2026 that it is in “active development”.
Armor Wars – TBA
Originally announced as a Disney+ series, Don Cheadle’s first solo outing as James Rhodes has reportedly been redeveloped into a feature film. The status of the project is unknown.
Blade – TBA
Like Armor Wars, the status of Blade is a big question mark hanging over Marvel Studios. It was announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali attached to play the lead role, but it has been stuck in development hell since.
In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast in July 2026, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said he felt like a “gigantic loser and a failure that we didn’t get off the ground with Mahershala” for Blade, which doesn’t bode well for the project’s future prospects.
