Tom Holland has revealed his next project is a biopic of Fred Astaire and that he will be doing all the dancing himself.

The British actor is currently promoting both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which are released within two weeks of each other. During an interview with Good Morning America, he confirmed his next project is a film about legendary Hollywood star Fred Astaire.
Considered one of the biggest stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood and its greatest dancer, Astaire rose to fame in the 1930s with classics like Top Hat and Holiday Inn. The film, directed by Paul King (Paddington, Wonka), is currently in pre-production, and during the interview Holland detailed his preparation.
“We have Fred Astaire next, which is what we’re planning on doing. As soon as I finish these tours I’m diving back into the dance studio,” he explained. “I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud.”
Holland comes from a dancing background, having achieved his big break as the star of the Billy Elliot stage show. Outlining his ambition for the dance scenes, he insisted he wanted to do everything himself. “I have a desire to use no doubles,” he said. “To do all of the dancing, to shoot those dances in one shot – how [Astaire] would have done it.”
Holland is currently enjoying the success of The Odyssey, which achieved the biggest opening of 2026 for a live-action film, and received a warm reception from Greek audiences according to a new report. His co-star in the movie, Travis Scott, recently revealed he got to set at 5am in order to shadow Christopher Nolan and learn how the IMAX cameras on the movie worked.
