Call Of Duty fans can get their hands on Modern Warfare 4 early, with game publishers Activision announcing details of an open beta for next month.

For the first time in three years, Activision is releasing Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 in two waves. The full game is set to launch October 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 but players who pre-order the game will be able to access the single-player campaign mode from October 16.
However if you don’t want to wait that long, two open beta weekends have been announced.
Between August 21 and 25, anyone who has pre-ordered Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 or PC will be able to log onto the early access beta playtest. The following weekend (August 28 to September 1) anyone will be able to play the game early, including Nintendo Switch 2 owners.

Modern Warfare 4 will be the first Call Of Duty title to launch on a Nintendo system since 2011 but the shooter won’t be coming to PlayStation 4. It will also be at least a year until the game arrives on Xbox Game Pass after Microsoft bosses reworked the subscription service to make it “more affordable”.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that the 2028 Call Of Duty movie will be set in the Modern Warfare universe.
