Assassin’s Creed Black Flag: Resynced is a remastered version of the beloved 2013 game. The remake launched last week and quickly went on to sell more than 2million copies in its first two days. Black Flag: Resynced is also the highest-reviewed Assassin’s Creed game in more than a decade.

“Black Flag has always held a special place in the heart of the community, and ours.” said Assassin’s Creed boss Martin Schelling in a blog post. ”Bringing it back with Resynced was a promise to that passion for Edward’s adventures, and to the unique sense of freedom players experienced back then. Seeing so many players set sail on day one, along with the great reviews from critics, is the greatest reward we could have hoped for.”

The game’s soundtrack has also been made available to stream, featuring Brian Tyler’s original Assassin’s Creed Black Flag score alongside 22 brand new songs created by Stephen Lukach. Woodkid’s reworked take on iconic sea shanty ‘Leave Her Johnny’ is also included on the album.

“As a longtime fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, especially the original Black Flag, it’s hard to describe how surreal it feels to have contributed new music to a game and franchise I’ve loved for so many years. I’m truly grateful and honored to be even a small part of the Assassin’s Creed legacy,” Luckah wrote on social media. “Huge thanks to everyone at Ubisoft, especially the amazing Audio Team, for trusting me with this project, and to all of the incredible musicians and collaborators who brought the score to life.”

In a four-star review of the game, NME wrote: “Where 2020’s Sea Of Thieves sets you and your mates up for multiplayer, grog-chugging hijinks, Resynced cements Black Flag’s place as the quintessential story-driven pirating epic. By being a plunder-led adventure first and an Assassin’s Creed game second, it remains a treasure-nabbing triumph, even with a few flaws. Put simply: this rum-soaked remake is a swashbuckling good time.”

In other news, Kingdom Hearts 4 fans are convinced news about the long-awaited sequel will finally be revealed next month.
