Created by Graham Yost and based on Hugh Howey’s novels, the dystopian sci-fi series is set in a dystopian future where thousands of people live in a vast underground silo, with the outside world believed to be deadly.

The series stars Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who uncovered some of the silo’s biggest secrets in season one before being sent outside to clean.

The cast also includes Tim Robbins as Bernard Holland, Common as Robert Sims, Harriet Walter as Martha Walker, Chinaza Uche as Paul Billings, Avi Nash as Lukas Kyle and Steve Zahn as Solo.

Season three premiered on Apple TV today (July 3), with new episodes set to arrive weekly until the finale on September 4.

The new season has already received strong reviews from critics, with some praising the show as “one of television’s smartest science-fiction dramas” and “a new standard for what prestige sci-fi can be”.

Will there be a Silo season four?

Yes. Silo has already been renewed for a fourth season, but it will be the show’s final run.

Apple TV confirmed the renewal in December 2024, announcing that the series would return for both a third and fourth season. The streamer said the fourth season would bring the story to its “final, thrilling chapter” and complete the adaptation of Howey’s book trilogy.

A release date for season four has not been announced yet.

At the time of the renewal, showrunner Graham Yost said: “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”

Ferguson, who also executive produces the series, added that she had “loved every minute of bringing Juliette to the screen” and said she was “immensely proud” that the show would be able to tell the complete story.

Season four is expected to wrap up the central mystery of the silos, including why they were built, who controls them, and whether Juliette and the other residents can finally learn the truth about the world outside.
