The Paramount+ series is directed by Guy Ritchie, and stars Hardy as a ‘fixer’ for the heads of a notorious crime family, played by Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. The show has been a ratings hit, but filming of the second season saw reports of discontent between Hardy and the show’s hierarchy.

In May, it was reported that that the British actor was let go from the series following the shoot, after disagreements with producers Jez Butterworth and David Glasser over script rewrites, as well as staying in his trailer for hours keeping co-stars Brosnan and Mirren waiting. That story was debunked by a production source who spoke to Variety, which said that Hardy was not fired from the show and that issues were being resolved. Mirren also posted a message of support for Hardy on Instagram.

Now, Deadline reports that the actor will be coming back after clearing the air with the producers. The article states that “a recent meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth and series executive producer David Glasser” had gone well and that the men had “come to an understanding about a path forward”. It is also reported that Ritchie was involved in the talks. The outlet states that, with the matter resolved, work has progressed on writing for a third season.

MobLand’s first season received a three-star review from NME, which described the drama as “funny but familiar”, comparing it to Ritchie’s previous work. “For all the laugh-out-loud moments and intriguing plot lines, it’s hard to believe Guy Ritchie is still rolling out the same old schtick,” wrote Jordan Bassett. “It’s as well made a version of this show as you could expect but it’s nothing to get excited about. Lock, Stock feels like a very long time ago indeed.”
