The new DC Studios film stars House Of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, who is drawn into an interstellar mission of vengeance and justice after meeting a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella), Supergirl is based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow comic run, and follows on from Alcock’s brief appearance as the character in last year’s Superman.

The film is released into UK cinemas on Thursday (June 25), and you can check out the trailer here:

The film also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem Of The Yellow Hills and Jason Momoa as Lobo, with David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and David Corenswet also appearing.

The film’s trailers also made use of two major needle drops: Blondie’s ‘Call Me’ and Jimmy Ruffin’s ‘What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted’.

Alcock recently revealed that the team had also tried to secure a Björk song for the film, saying they wanted to use ‘It’s Oh So Quiet’ but were unsuccessful.
