The actor, who was seen on the red carpet recently with Zendaya for the next instalment of the Spider-Man series, spoke to Esquire in a new interview about his rumoured marriage.
Earlier this year, stylist Law Roach seemingly revealed that the couple have already married in secret, telling Access Hollywood: “The wedding has already happened. You missed it.” When the reporter asked if that was true, Roach laughed and confirmed: “It’s very true.”
The pair, who famously keep their relationship very private, have largely avoided answering questions about the marriage so far, but speaking to Esquire about fake AI images of him and Zendaya getting married, Holland said his grandmother had seen them and thought she wasn’t invited.
When asked by Esquire if he had to send out similar messages to other family members who may have seen the photos, Holland seemingly confirmed the wedding had taken place, saying, “No, because they were all there.”
While the actor refused to be drawn on any further details – “That’s all you’ll get on that”, he told the outlet, elsewhere, he did open up about his relationship with Zendaya. The pair first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016.
He explained: “Our business can present very stressful situations and it’s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time. We can support each other in ways that only we can, because only we understand really what it’s like to live this life, and I think that is such a luxury, because I just don’t understand how I would be able to have anything like that with anyone else.
“So, for me, I found my person. She’s my best friend, and I’m the happiest I have ever been when I’m with her, but I have also never felt so supported and safe, ever. Period.”
The first trailer for Marvel blockbuster Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived back in March, picking up with Peter Parker after the devastating events of 2021’s No Way Home. Watch it above.
The previous Spidey adventure saw Parker ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to erase the memory of him from the world, in order to protect the people he loves after his identity is leaked. In the new clip for the forthcoming movie, we see him pining for his former girlfriend, MJ (Zendaya).
Elsewhere in the preview, we also saw Spider-Man encounter The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), in the character’s first big screen appearance after being a regular in the Marvel TV universe. Bickering during a high speed chase, they appear to both be on the same side, albeit with differing methods.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes to UK cinemas on July 31, and is the last chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) before the epic Avengers: Doomsday, which arrives December 18.
