Disney World has now officially replaced Aerosmith with The Muppets covering Blur

Disney World in Orlando has officially replaced the Aerosmith rollercoaster with a new ride centred around The Muppets – and it features a cover of an iconic Blur song.

In 2024, Disney World announced that it would be rebranding the Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, which was there for over two decades and featured cameos from the band as well as their hits ‘Dude (Looks Like A Lady)’, ‘Walk This Way’ and ‘Back In The Saddle’.

It was then confirmed that a new Muppets attraction would be taking its place, and the Aerosmith ride – which was centred around an intense limousine ride to make it to a concert in time – officially closed last December.

Now, the new Muppets-themed era has officially opened, and it features Dr. Teeth And The Electric Mayhem covering the hit 1997 Blur track, ‘Song 2’.

The premise of the new ride is that the band, which features Animal on the drums, are on their way to a live show, but need to track down some of the members of The Electric Mayhem who have gone missing.

“With the help from our friends at Muppet Labs and a very fast limousine, we’ll take a twisting, turning and screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood to reach the concert in time,” read a 2025 description. “Throughout the journey, you’ll hear the Electric Mayhem playing some of the most iconic, rockin’ hits in your ears to keep the music and adrenaline pumping.”

Other songs featured on the soundtrack include Def Leppard‘s ‘Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)’ featuring Def Leppard themselves, Steppenwolf’s ‘Born To Be Wild’ featuring Camilla the Chicken, Katrina And The Waves’ ‘Walking On Sunshine’ featuring Kelly Clarkson, and Ohio Players’ ‘Love Rollercoaster’ featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove.

As per Stereogum, the Blur cover is the only track featured on the ride that does not include a special guest, and its inclusion on the ride coincidentally comes exactly 29 years since ‘Song 2’ debuted on the US Mainstream Rock Airplay chart.

As well as the Muppets, other famous faces who feature on the ride include Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, Weird Al Yankovic, actors Darren Criss, Neil Patrick Harris, John Stamos, Danny Trejo, Yvette Nicole Brown, and comedian Wayne Brady.

There are also some returning faces from the Aerosmith ride too, with Ken Marino and Illeana Douglas both making appearances. In the Rock’N’Roller Coaster ride, Douglas played Aerosmith’s frantic manager, and Marino appeared as an audio engineer.

The reimagined ride comes following The Muppets releasing a rock-inspired series on Disney+ in 2023 called The Muppets Mayhem, which included appearances from huge names like Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee and Danny Trejo.

Since that show launched, The Muppets’ Miss Piggy attended Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Short N’ Sweet’ tour and was “arrested” by the singer, and Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she was working on a Missy Piggy movie with Emma Stone.

Earlier this year, The Muppets joined Coldplay’s Chris Martin in announcing the co-headliners for the first ever World Cup Final Halftime Show.

The final will take place on Sunday July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. For the first time in World Cup history, there will be a star-studded live show during halftime – similar to that seen at the Super Bowl – and performing will be Madonna, Shakira and BTS.
