‘Scary Movie 6’ will joke about ICE raids, MeToo, the Epstein Files and the Kendrick-Drake beef

The new Scary Movie film will include jokes about the ICE raids, the Epstein files, #MeToo and the Kendrick-Drake beef.

The sixth entry in the horror parody franchise is arriving in cinemas on Friday (June 5), with Marlon and Shawn Wayans returning to the cast, alongside Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott.

It is the first Scary Movie film in 13 years and the first to be written by the Wayans brothers since Scary Movie 2 in 2001. It catches up with the familiar group of friends who reunite when a masked killer from their past returns.

As with all of the films, it will feature parodies of countless contemporary horror films, with its targets set to include Get Out, Nope, Longlegs, Heretic, Sinners, Terrifier, Smile, M3GAN, The Substance and Weapons.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marlon Wayans also revealed that a number of other hot topic issues from recent years will also be parodied in the new movie.

“COVID, #MeToo, ChatGPT, the Epstein files, OnlyFans, live streamers, ICE raids, the January 6 insurrection and the Kendrick-Drake rap battle all take blows in Scary Movie,” he said.

“But understand, we’re not punks. We’re not afraid – we Wayans are not afraid to go there,” he continued. “But is it worth the goodness of your project to just be offensive? This is bare-knuckle boxing alright, but with kids’ gloves on. For us, it’s not about the blood. We’re not trying to get blood, we’re just trying to hit you in the face and get you one of those Fred Flintstone notches.”

In March, Marlon Wayans said the film would “cancel the cancel culture”, and would have a “multi-generational” appeal that will return to comedy “as it used to be”.

“We’re gonna do what we always do. We’re gonna make fun of everybody because we’re equal opportunity offenders,” he said. “We have a recipe, we have a formula that you can’t mimic or copy. You could try, but it’s very specific. It’s how we grew up, and it’s how we see the world. It’s the household we were raised in with the sense of humour that we all were governed with, that we inherited from our mother.”
