After racking up 30 Emmy nominations, Abbott Elementary has become one of the most acclaimed sitcoms of recent years.
Created by Quinta Brunson, the mockumentary series follows the lives of a group of teachers at the underfunded Abbott Elementary public school in West Philadelphia.

Along with creating the show, Brunson leads the cast as perpetually optimistic second grade teacher Janine Teagues, alongside Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, Sheryl Lee Ralph and William Stanford Davis.
In the UK, Abbott Elementary is available to stream on Disney+.
Has Abbott Elementary been renewed for a season 6?
ABC renewed the show for a sixth season in March this year. The show’s renewal was announced via a voicemail from Sheryl Lee Ralph’s Barbara Howard.
Is there a release date for season 6?
Abbott Elementary’s sixth season is set to debut in autumn 2026 in the US, although a specific release date is yet to be announced.
As for the UK, it’s likely we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the show’s return. For season five, the first eight episodes arrived on Disney+ in December 2025, with the remaining episodes following in May 2026. As such, it’s likely season six will follow a similar rollout.
