NEXZ is making its first comeback of 2026 on April 27 with the release of their new single album, “Mmchk.” The release marks their return six months after their mini-album “Beat-Boxer” and roughly two years since ‘Ride the Vibe,’ the track that launched their global debut.
The album title — pronounced “Eum-cheuk” — is a playful signal from the group of “lovable eccentrics,” tossed out against the world’s predictable conventions.
Through the title track and B-sides ‘HYPEMAN’ and ‘Mmchk (English Version),’ the group declares the “NEXZ Way” — a commitment to free choices over rigid frameworks. Members actively participated in writing the lyrics, with Yuki, Hyui, and Tomoya credited on the title track, championing the idea of acting freely rather than being bound by prescribed manners. Lines like “Crackers picked up with chopsticks” and “Freestyling solo amidst a mega crew” evoke a thrilling sense of liberation.
The title track ‘Mmchk’ is set against a Base House-driven dance track, blending playful rapping with an addictive beat to showcase NEXZ’s unique spirit of freedom. As performers who have mastered genres including House, Popping, B-boying, and Hip-hop, the group delivers a bold and exhilarating performance.
The second track, ‘HYPEMAN’ — written by Yuki and Tomoya — carries a message of positivity, blending 8-bit sounds with a Hyperpop sensibility and an infectious hook sampled from a Swedish folk melody.
Gradually expanding their creative horizons into songwriting, composition, and arrangement, NEXZ is emerging as the next generation of self-producing idols. With ‘Mmchk’ serving as a confident declaration of “This is who we are,” the group is preparing to make their voices heard louder than ever.
