Contents First, the company behind the global webtoon platform Tappytoon, today announced that the Tappytoon app has won the Webby People’s Voice Award in Entertainment, Sports & Events within the Apps, Software & Immersive category at the 30th Annual Webby Awards — widely regarded as the “Oscars of the Internet” and presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). Tappytoon was additionally named a Webby Honoree in Best Visual Design – Function, recognizing the platform’s intentional approach to user experience.
The People’s Voice Award is determined by public vote: after IADAS selected five nominees from hundreds of entries, fans chose the platform over fellow finalists including Yahoo Sports and Eventbrite. Tappytoon’s win confirms Korean webtoons have arrived alongside some of the most recognized names in digital entertainment, with a sizable fanbase that spans the globe. The webtoons and web novels offered on Tappytoon have become genuine cultural phenomena: many have been adapted into anime, hit films, television series, physical books, and official merchandise. With more than 14 million registered readers worldwide, Tappytoon is more than a reading utility — it is an entertainment experience for immersive, serialized storytelling.
Tappytoon’s Visual Design Honoree recognition reflects the platform’s deliberate approach to making serialized discovery effortless. The app’s design surfaces essential story signals at a glance — genre, tone, emotional trajectory — along with bold imagery. By guiding readers to an episodic narrative in tune with their tastes, the entertainment experience becomes intuitive, letting the dynamic and colorful stories themselves take center stage.
“Winning the People’s Voice Award in Entertainment, Sports & Events is an extraordinary honor — not just for our product in its 10th year of service, but for the stories at the heart of it,” said Ernest Woo, Chief Strategy Officer at Contents First. “Along with the IADAS selecting Tappytoon as a finalist, this win is a profound validation of how we’re building for the fans who’ve empowered us, and we’re immensely grateful. We’ll keep earning that trust — making the best of serial storytelling accessible and compelling through inspired curation and intentional design.”
