The Tim Burton-directed adaptation of The Addams Family universe, focusing on Wednesday Addams (Ortega) and her investigative adventures, has been a huge hit for the streamer, with the first season being their most popular English language show of all time, and the second season being the fifth most watched. In July 2025, before the second season had even been released, a third was commissioned.

Now, the streaming giant have released the first image from the forthcoming season on social media. It shows Ortega’s Wednesday standing in front of the Eiffel Tower, with Thing accompanying her. The image’s caption reads: “From Paris, with dread.” You can check out the image below.

The third season’s release date has not been announced yet, but Netflix have confirmed that French star Eva Green will be joining the cast as Aunt Ophelia, the missing sister of Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Also joining will be Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey, and regular Burton collaborator Winona Ryder.

Speaking to the service’s in-house website Tudum, Showrunner Alfred Gough said: “Our goal for season three is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can.” Fellow Showrunner Miles Millar added: “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in season three!”

Last year, it was confirmed that a spin-off of the series was in the works, starring Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen. “Yeah, we’re working on it,” the actor told Jimmy Fallon. “It’s fantastic… it’s amazing.” He went on to hail Wednesday director and executive producer Tim Burton as “amazing”, adding: “He’s great, great, great.”
