It seems that Madonna is finally preparing to launch her long-awaited new album ‘Confessions On A Dancefloor II’.

The Queen of Pop has been teasing a follow-up to her seminal 2005 record for over a year, telling fans last February that she was “putting my heart and soul into my new music” and signing off the post with “Confessions Part 2”.

That was followed by the news in September that she had re-signed with Warner Records, when she said she was “looking forward to the future, making music”. She again teased ‘Confessions 2’ by adding: “Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor, Back to where it all began! COADF – P. 2 2026.”

Earlier today (April 14), the announcement seemed to get a lot nearer when Madonna wiped her entire Instagram account and rebranded her official website. It now throws up flashes of the words “Confessions On A Dancefloor II” and “COADE 2”, before showing an image of a speaker sitting between a pair of legs in shiny silver high heels. An ambient, enigmatic clip of music plays over the homepage.

‘Confessions On A Dancefloor’ was Madonna’s 10th studio album and saw her embrace ‘70s disco and ‘80s electropop, and included the ABBA-sampling ‘Hung Up’, as well as ‘Sorry’, ‘Get Together’ and ‘Jump’.

The new album will see her reunite with the producer of the original album, Stuart Price, whom she already revealed she had been working with back in December 2024.

She’s been working with the hit producer for over two decades now, and since ‘Confessions’, he has gone on to work with her on three tours, and reconnected with her as part of her acclaimed ‘Celebration’ shows.

‘Confessions 2’ will mark Madonna’s first LP since 2019’s ‘Madame X‘, which was her 14th studio record.

NME spoke to Madonna around the release of ‘Madame X’, and she discussed the experience of being extremely famous. “It has its pluses and minuses,” she told us. “The great thing about being famous is that you have a voice and you can spread messages and fight for people who don’t have the ability to fight for themselves, and share your wealth with people who need help.”

Since then, she’s completed a huge world tour, celebrating the hits from throughout her career. The UK dates of her 2023 ‘Celebration’ tour featured multiple sold-out stops at The O2 in London – which were given a five-star review by NME. It described the opening gig as showcasing “a series of spectacular set-pieces referencing iconic highlights from Madonna’s reign”.

There is a biopic about the singer on the way too, and while no release date has been shared yet, it has been confirmed that Julia Garner will be taking on the lead role, and Deadpool & Wolverine filmmaker Shawn Levy will be involved.

Last month, William Orbit revealed he had written a “successor” to the classic Madonna album ‘Ray Of Light’, but said he had received “nil response” from the singer.
