Released back in 2017, the influential Slay The Spire helped popularise the roguelike deckbuilder genre and featured a beloved soundtrack from composer Clark Aboud.

The Slay The Spire soundtrack was released on vinyl in 2019 but quickly sold out and has become tricky to hunt down. A copy hasn’t been listed on vinyl resale site Discogs for almost two years.  Now Black Screen Records have confirmed a new 2LP vinyl release of the Slay The Spire soundtrack.

“To celebrate the launch of Slay The Spire 2 in early access, we are excited to have Clark Aboud’s full soundtrack to the original rougelike deckbuilder that spawned an entire genre: Slay The Spire,” they wrote. “Featuring new artwork by Nimit Malavia across a spot glossed trifold, it’ll feel like just one more run up the spire. And also included is Clark’s own ‘Reslain’ EP: four tracks reimagined psych rock style– on vinyl for the first time.”

The Slay The Spire vinyl soundtrack is available to pre-order here for €49 and will ship in September.

Long-awaited sequel Slay The Spire 2 launched into early access last week and has quickly become one of the most popular games in Steam history, with a concurrent player peak of more than 574,000.

Following its huge launch, Slay The Spire 2 developers made a playful dig at ambitious AAA shooter Marathon on social media, which also launched last week. “Don’t let small indie passion projects like this pass you by just because Slay The Spire 2 is out,” Mega Crit wrote on X. Co-founder Casey Yano later admitted that the Tweet “seems a bit meaner than it was intended,” before adding that he “didn’t think we’d actually pass Marathon in concurrent users.”

Slay The Spire 2 is set to stay in early access for at least a year and the soundtrack, also created by Clark Aboud, hasn’t arrived on streaming yet.

In other news, Barry Keoghan has revealed he’s a “big gamer” and loves playing Pokémon and The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
