Yellowjackets fans have been left reeling after the shock death of a major character.

It came after Van (Lauren Ambrose) was stabbed to death by Melissa (Hilary Swank) in the latest episode of season three, titled ‘How The Story Ends’.
The scene left many fans upset particularly after her character has suffered so much adversity battling cancer throughout the series.
“I am sorry but van did not survive all of this to end up being killed by melissa,” one wrote, while another added: “Yellowjackets writers have actually made an enemy out of me tonight.”
“That yellowjackets episode made me wanna tear my fucking hair out,” a third fan said.

Ambrose herself also admitted she was shocked when she saw learned of her character’s exit.
She told Vanity Fair: “Van is this ultimate survivor. Her mother had an abusive nature, then she gets almost blown up by the plane, and then she’s almost killed when she’s attacked by wolves. And then she’s got this cancer that then goes into remission.
She continued: “I assumed it would be the cancer that did her in – this ultimate survivor who is unable to survive this very real and human thing…. Then it wasn’t that, and reading it was really shocking…. All of a sudden, Hilary Swank is murdering me. I’m like, ‘OK, we’re going to make it work.’”
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, the mystery thriller series follows a girls’ football team in 1996 who, while travelling to a tournament in Seattle, crash-land in the Canadian wilderness and are left stranded for 19 months. Between their attempts to survive, the show also jumps to their adult lives in the present day.
Despite the shock death, many critics have praised season three so far, with a host claiming the survival drama is back to its best.
