NewJeans headlined ComplexCon in Hong Kong on March 23, which marked their first performance since they independently rebranded as NJZ in February. During the set, they previewed a new track titled ‘Pitstop’, which they’ve been teasing on Instagram page in the weeks leading up to their performance.

“I’m cut from a different fabric / It’s a problem I’ve heard everywhere / No matter how many times you spin it, the colour is blue / Now I keep it moving, don’t keep it static,” they sing on the pre-chorus.

As they wrapped up their ComplexCon set, the girl group also addressed their ongoing legal feud with former label ADOR. Notably, ADOR was granted an injunction to prohibit NewJeans from pursuing independent activities just two days before to the festival.

“We have decided to stop all activities for the time being in accordance with the court ruling. It wasn’t an easy decision but a necessary one,” they told the crowd, per The Korea TimesThe ruling restricts the quintet from operating as a band without ADOR’s explicit permission.

“We knew this wouldn’t be easy from the start,” leader Minji added. “We will continue to voice our opinions while respecting the court’s decision and the process. We have no regrets.”

“Some people may think staying [with ADOR] would have been better for us, but this was about protecting ourselves,” Hyein added. “We believe we will come back stronger and do not regret our decision.”

“Please don’t see this as the end – we will return, and when we do, we want to meet you again with bright, smiling faces,” Minji said. “We know this may be disappointing and upsetting for Bunnies [NewJeans’ fandom], but this is how we protect ourselves, and only by doing this can we return stronger.”

Following the injunction grant, ADOR and NewJeans continue to be engaged in legal battle as the company’s lawsuit against the quintet to verify the validity of their contracts with it is still ongoing.

That was filed after NewJeans held an emergency press conference on November 28, announcing that they were terminating their exclusive contracts with ADOR. The next day, the label refuted the statement, claiming their contract with the group “remains in full effect”.
