‘Forrest Gump’ fan-made trailer imagines Timotheé Chalamet in the lead

A fan-made trailer of a Forrest Gump sequel featuring Timotheé Chalamet has gone viral. Watch below.

The original film was released in 1994 and starred Tom Hanks in the lead role alongside Robin Wright in the Robert Zemeckis hit movie.

Although a sequel was never made, a fan-made AI trailer imagines Chalamet taking the role of Forrest Gump Jr.

The clip, which you can view below, shows Chalamet struggling to find his place in the world, similar to his father in the original. It features some AI-manufactured jokes between the two, as well as some emotional reflection from Chalamet’s character about how smart his father really is.

Since it was shared, the trailer has garnered more than 1.6million views online.

It comes after Hanks recently revealed that he is thankful a sequel to Forrest Gump was never made.

“It is this extraordinary amalgam that stands completely on its own and never has to be repeated. And thank God we never bothered trying to make another one. Why put a hat on a hat?” he added.

He has reunited with Wright for Zemeckis’ new movie Here, which is set for release in cinemas across the UK on January 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, Chalamet recently said he learned to play 30 Bob Dylan songs in preparation for the upcoming biopic in which he plays the legendary folk musician.

The Dune star is set to portray the music icon in the upcoming film A Complete Unknown, which will chart Dylan’s controversial switch from acoustic to electric guitar in the mid-’60s.

He said: “For the movie, I had to learn 13, let’s say, or something, but in total, I could probably play 30. So Tim Monich was a dialect coach. That’s who I worked with for years on this. Worked with a harmonica coach for five years.

“And then, worked with a woman named Polly Bennett, who’s a movement coach that actually we got more out of just working on the script together than anything physicality related.”

The film will be released in US cinemas on December 25, with a UK release to follow on January 17.
